Crane Automation for Overhead Monorail, Gantry, and Bridge Cranes

Tri-State Overhead Crane has designed, manufactured, and installed overhead bridge cranes, monorails, and gantries since 1959. As automation technology has advanced, so has TSOC's capability — today we engineer complete crane automation systems that integrate positioning controls, PLC programming, and custom end-of-arm tooling to help manufacturers improve throughput, reduce operator fatigue, and move loads with precision in environments where manual operation isn't practical.

Why Use an Automated Crane?

Moving heavy loads dependably has always been a concern for manufacturers because of the risk of worker injury and damage. As technology has grown, so have the ways of making safe, precise movements while keeping workers out of harm's way. Automation technology uses real-time data and positioning systems to offer more precise control, helping to reduce the risk of damage to crane equipment.

  • Eliminate fatigue from repetitive lifting of operators
  • Increase cycle time on time-sensitive pick-and-place applications
  • Ensure accuracy of pick and placement of expensive product
  • Remove crane operators from toxic areas and hazardous environments
  • Operators can control cranes from safe, remote areas

Crane Automation Controls

TSOC can design your automated crane with 3 main styles of control stations:

  • Teachable Pendant Setup
  • Programmable Radio Control with Optional Display
  • HMI Touchscreen for Automated Crane

Overhead Crane PLC's and Drives

As a master distributor and manufacturer for over 65 years, TSOC has access to every major brand of crane component. This allows us to choose the correct component with the correct tolerance for your application. Most automated cranes require either a servo motor or squirrel cage motor with encoder feedback so we can track the location at all times. We can use and program any customer-specified PLC. With our large manufacturing facility, we are able to set up and test most of these systems before they ship, ensuring a high likelihood of startup success.

Automated Hoist with Teachable Limits

  • Setup and teach an electric chain hoist multiple sets of virtual limits
  • Ideal for an assembly line process
  • Can be radio remote controlled or pendant controlled

Custom Automated Lifting Solutions

With 10 mechanical and structural engineers on staff and an in-house machine shop, TSOC develops custom end-of-arm tooling to complete your automated crane system. We design and build electric and pneumatic grippers, vacuum lifting solutions, and magnetic lifting devices — engineered specifically for your part geometry and production process.

Tri-State Overhead Crane provides crane automation services for overhead crane and gantry systems. We serve clients from coast to coast, Canada, Mexico and are especially focused in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Florida, and Oklahoma.
