Example 1 – 1 Ton Under-Running Double-Girder Bridge Crane with Twin Hook Rotating Hoist
This 1-ton under-running double-girder bridge crane was custom designed by TSOC to handle large, awkward loads in a facility with limited headroom. The Electrolift twin hook turntable hoist provides continuous 360-degree rotation — allowing operators to pick, reorient, and place long boxes into storage racks without manual repositioning.
Problem: The customer needed to replace a heavily used single-girder underhung crane while working within existing constraints: limited headroom, a patented track runway that had to be reused, and a process that required rotating 16- to 18-foot boxes 90 degrees before placing them into storage racks.
Solution: TSOC designed and installed a custom double-girder underhung bridge crane with a top-running 8-foot turntable hoist and trolley featuring continuous 360-degree rotation. Two hooks, spaced 8 feet apart, allow the operator to pick product in any orientation and set it precisely into rack positions with minimal headroom clearance. Red safety lights project a box outline on the floor around each hook for accurate load positioning. A slow-down/stop anti-collision system protects against end-stop impacts. The crane also handles the reverse move — pulling product from racks and transferring it to workstations.
Result: The customer gained a fully functional replacement system that fits within the existing runway and headroom constraints, with the added capability of continuous load rotation and operator guidance lighting — eliminating the manual repositioning steps required with the previous crane.
