Pneumatic-Powered Magnetic Lifting Devices: Air-Powered Magnetic Lifters
Pneumatic lifting magnets, also known as pneumatically controlled magnets or air-actuated magnets, effectively handle non-standard materials and perform specialized tasks, even in high-vibration environments. These devices combine the strength of permanent magnets with the precise control offered by pneumatic technology. This combination allows for accurate handling and positioning of materials that are non-standard or require special attention.
Tri-State Overhead Crane offers Pneumatic-Powered Magnetic Lifting Devices and other Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices to improve efficiency, safety, and versatility in your operations. Learn more about our pneumatic magnets and the custom-tailored solutions we offer below.
Pneumatic Magnet Lifter for Corrugated Metal
This custom magnet tool grips and lifts corrugated metal material and is integrated with a CM 2-Speed Hoist and Gorbel Workstation Crane. The tool features two air actuated magnet grippers, the magnets are adjustable and can lift smaller length metal parts. Other features include an ergonomic floating handle, up/down, grip/release controls and our gripper safety circuit preventing release of the parts in midair.
Magnet Gripper for Truck Floor Pans
This custom straight transfer tool grips, traps and lifts large truck floor pans. The tool features two air actuated magnet grippers, mechanical trap and grip pads, and easy grip handles with two soft touch pendants. The tool is integrated into a Gorbel Easy Arm with float mode and uses our Ergonomic Partners Gripper Safety Circuit preventing the operator from accidentally releasing the floor pans in mid-air.
Magnetic Gripper for Loading a Brake Press
This custom magnetic lifting device grips large steel plates for loading into a brake press machine. The tool features three air actuated magnet grippers, easy grip handles with grip/release and soft touch proportional up/down controls. The tool is integrated with a Gorbel Easy Arm using the G-Force intelligent lifting hoist. The G-Force hoist allows a single operator to use its zero-gravity float mode feature to place the sheets into the brake press while the press bends the sheet metal. This allows the G-Force to do all the lifting preventing worker injury and fatigue.
What are Pneumatic Lifting Magnets?
A pneumatic lifting magnet features a powerful permanent magnet inside a strong steel housing, creating a reliable grip on ferrous materials. Its key differentiator is the pneumatic cylinder. When compressed air enters the cylinder, it activates a plate that controls the magnet's grip, allowing for easy engagement and disengagement. This setup gives operators precise control for accurately positioning and releasing loads, merging dependable magnetic lifting with efficient pneumatic operation.
Key advantages of pneumatic lifting magnets include:
- Failsafe operation: The permanent magnet ensures a secure grip on the load even in the event of air pressure loss, enhancing operational safety.
- Energy efficiency: Pneumatic systems consume less energy compared to electric magnets, as they rely on compressed air for actuation.
- Simplicity and reliability: With fewer electronic components, pneumatic magnets offer reduced risk of malfunction and increased uptime.
- Versatile material handling: These magnets can effectively handle a wide variety of ferrous materials, including those with irregular shapes or non-standard sizes.
When selecting a pneumatic lifting magnet for your application, consider factors such as the material type and weight, operating environment conditions, compatibility with existing systems, and available customization options. Consulting with experienced professionals can help you identify the optimal solution for your specific requirements.
Custom Engineering & Integration Solutions
