Case Study: Ultra Low Headroom Spark Resistant Air Hoist

Problem: The customer had a new production line with very limited headroom. In addition, the environment needed to be spark resistant. Also, the customer needed a fully motorized system because the product prevented the operator from being near the hook due to load size.

Requirement: Pick up to 3,500 pound loads in a spark resistant atmosphere with a headroom of less than 7 inches. It had to be fully motorized.

Solution: An Elephant Ultra Low Headroom Pneumatic Chain Hoist. The custom package included the following: Powered hoist, Motorized Trolley, Copper plated hook, Copper plated lower block, Copper plated Sprocket, Copper plated load sheave, Spark resistant latch kit, Galvanized load chain, and Stainless coiled air hose festooning.

Result: TSOC installed an Elephant spark resistant hoist that only took up 5.63 inches. This left the customer with nearly 1-1/2" of spare headroom. They were able to move the product as required under very tight tolerances.
